Journalism class begins

Bobcat Journo Students,

(via techwiredau.com)

Welcome to the 2010-11 school year and to the Western Plains High School journalism class!

Over the course of this year, we are going to be doing a lot of cool stuff. We’re going to be producing a monthly newspaper, a nearly daily website and compete in a state-wide, high school journalism contest, among other things.

We will be writing and/or shooting pictures almost every day, so come to class ready to roll. This class won’t be a walk in the park. It is going to take some work, but I promise it will all be worth it in the end.

When you see someone reading the newspaper you produced, it will be an amazing experience, especially if that person later talks to you about what you wrote. That means they read your work and thought enough of it to comment about it. That is very rewarding. Trust me.

Journalism is the most enjoyable career I have ever had, and I’m excited to get to share that fire and passion burning inside me with you all.

To know more about what this class will truly entail, check out the syllabus, which I also gave you in class.

And don’t forget, this is where you will be posting all your in-class assignments. If it is something for the newspaper or website, you will just be turning it in to me, no posting it here.

I hope you all are ready for a great year and are ready to get down to business. I know I am.

Regards,

Mr. T.
