At the Otis-Bison Forensics Tournament, two students qualified for the State Championship Forensics Tournament on May 5.
Sophomore Andrew Flax took 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking and 1st in Poetry. This means he qualifies for State Champs in both events.
Junior Casey Kraus qualified for State Champs in Humorous Solo Acting with a 2nd place finish.
Other Bobcats placing included the following:
Ashley Stull, senior — 5th in Original Oration
Chad Ryersee, sophomore — 6th in Informative Speaking
Braden Mishler, freshman — 7th in Informative Speaking
Kraus and senior Kate Hagans — 4th in Improvised Duet Acting
Lauren Sargent, sophomore — 6th in Humorous Solo Acting
I am beyond stoked to have such a strong showing. This was Casey’s first tournament this season, so having him qualify for State is absolutely incredible. Andrew qualified for both last year, so it isn’t a surprise he did this year. What is impressive is that he did so in his second tournament of the season. Also, it was Chad’s first tournament and Braden’s first time in Informative, so they did great. Ashley and Lauren have been working hard on their pieces, so it is great to finally see them succeed. Everyone did great. I couldn’t be happier. If everyone keeps working hard, we are going to be competing at State in full force.
