Junior English to experience Great Gatsby Great Getaway

On Thursday, May 16, 2013, my Junior English class students from Sterling High School will get to experience something I’m pretty freaking stoked about.

I am calling it the Great Gatsby Great Getaway.

Since we read “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald earlier this year, I have made arrangements to take all of my students to see the new movie!

We will be seeing a special 10:10 a.m. showing of the new movie at the Hutchinson movie theater.

“The Great Gatsby” is one of my favorite books of all time, and I am so excited to see this latest incarnation of Fitzgerald’s classic.

The original movie, which starred Robert Redford, was very true to the book, so I am anxious to see if the new version does the same.

For me, the coolest thing is that the students have been talking about wanting to see the movie. That means they are interested. I connected with them. They enjoyed the book. I’m thrilled!

Here is the presentation I used to announce the field trip to them: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1tXBGvilcA1pI5nmVO7RHE2GZw9DftcfFzTkQBKm9vO0/edit#slide=id.p15
